This machine should not be regarded as a special form of lathe. It represents a new conception of a general purpose machine tool made possible by a simple patented invention. This invention consists of a triangular gib key (British Patent No. 696773 expired) which enables any member enclosing and sliding upon a column to be maintained in strict radial relationship to the axis of the column.
